Season 10 of League of Legends is finally upon us! Here’s our breakdown of the Patch 10.1 changes and how they’ll shape the start of the new season!

League of Legends is heading into its tenth season & we’ve received our first set of Patch Notes just seven days into 2020! It’s a relatively short list of changes as a result of the balance team’s decision lớn make the majority of the large changes during preseason và only make small adjustments on Patch 10.1.

Contained in this patch are fifteen champion changes, including a mini rework for Sylas, as well as a support item overhaul & a small change to Omnistone. Not only that, but Sett will be added to lớn the game at some point during Patch 10.1!

Each change in the patch notes looks khổng lồ adjust outliers that have appeared after Patch 9.24 was added to lớn live servers, addressing the highest and lowest win rates in solo queue right now.

Patch 10.1 will hit live League of Legends servers on Wednesday, January 8th, so get reading & get ready for the return of the ranked season this week on Friday, January 10th!

Champions

Aphelios

Base StatsMovement Speed: 330 -> 325Health: 530 -> 500

R – Moonlight VigilInfernum Empowered AoE Damage: 100% on secondary targets -> 75% on secondary targets

Unsurprisingly, the balance team views Aphelios as an outlier in the current meta and is seeking to lớn remedy his issues with these nerfs. His 50.67% win rate on Patch 9.24 may seem small, but couple this with his massive 64.3% ban rate and 12.1% pick rate, & it’s clear to lớn see that the latest addition lớn League is a little imbalanced at present.

Reducing his base HP và movement speed impacts his early game, making him more susceptible lớn early engages and ganks that are targeted at setting the champion behind early. These nerfs also affect his late game, but less so.

Infernum is wreaking havoc in close-knit team fights at the moment with huge AoE damage being spread around multiple opponents, so reducing the overall splash damage from 100% khổng lồ 75% is a step in the right direction. All in all, these are deserved nerfs for Aphelios & definitely a step in the right direction, but it remains lớn be seen if the player base will stop banning the champion & let us see his true power level on Patch 10.1.

Aurelion Sol

Passive – Center of the UniverseBase Star Damage: 16-120 (levels 1-18) -> 12-120 (levels 1-18)

ASol is currently the strongest mid laner in the current meta with a monumental 55.48% win rate. He’s dominating his lane opponents currently, và has no trouble traversing the maps and impacting other lanes throughout the early game.

In an attempt khổng lồ limit his impact in the early stages of the game, the balance team has opted khổng lồ decrease the damage of Aurelion’s stars until màn chơi 18. This is the perfect nerf as it negatively impacts his wave clear, trading damage, & skirmish dominance, resulting in a more balanced state for the Star Forger.

Azir

R – Emperor’s DivideBase Damage: 150/250/450 -> 175/325/475Wall Duration: 3 seconds -> 5 seconds

On the other over of the mid lane scales is Azir, a champion who currently struggles khổng lồ show his face in the mid lane meta with an abysmal 45.22% win rate. It’s about time the Emperor of the Sands received some love, isn’t it?

The damage increase on Azir’s Emperor’s Divide is negligible & only acts to lớn slightly boost his burst damage upon reaching cấp độ 6, however, the wall duration is definitely a noticeable change & transforms a knock-back to a team fight impacting terrain by almost doubling its uptime.

Adding a five-second wall lớn a team fight has the potential lớn completely turn the tides of the fight & change the result, raising the skill ceiling for Azir players & adding a tonne of outplay potential. This isn’t what Azir needs right now to lớn re-enter the meta, but it’s certainly something to keep an eye out for when he inevitably receives more buffs later in the year.

Corki

R – Missile BarrageBase Damage: 90/115/140 -> 90/125/160

Corki has reached the point where his player base has dwindled so much that there’s not enough information for him lớn be added lớn tier lists anymore. As such, the balance team is giving him and his mains a little nudge in the right direction khổng lồ increase his popularity & potentially boost his play rate on Patch 10.1.

+20 damage on each of his rockets on such an easily spammed ability is a strong buff, but definitely not enough lớn propel him lớn the upper echelons of the mid lane tier list. Instead what we will see is a greater play rate for Corki in the coming weeks for the balance team lớn then analyze his true power nguồn level & update him further depending on the results.

Don’t start spamming Corki just yet guys!

Jayce

Q – Shock BlastBase Damage: 55/105/155/205/255/305 -> 55/110/165/220/275/330

This change is not a question of whether a 45.34% win rate champion deserves this buff, because he clearly does. It’s instead a question of how much will +25 damage impact said champion when he’s in such a rough state?

Well, considering that Shock Blast is Jayce’s first maxed skill, he’ll be receiving the full benefit of this buff at just cấp độ 11, which is significant. However, it’s likely that this will only slightly boost the Defender of Tomorrow’s rough trading và see his win rate rise lớn about 47% until he receives future changes.

Kalista

Base StatsHealth Growth: 89 -> 100Armor Growth: 3.5 -> 4

Despite several consecutive buffs heading her way, Kalista has yet to lớn make an impact on the bot lane meta. The Spear of Vengeance received relatively large buffs on Patches 9.17 và 9.22, but is still somehow invisible when it comes to marksmen in the current meta.

This time instead of targeting her abilities, the balance team has looked towards buffing Kalista’s base states to impact all stages of the game và increase her strength when compared khổng lồ other AD Carries in the current trò chơi state.

At màn chơi 11, Kalista will now have approximately 110 more Health và 5 more Armor, which in the grand scheme of things isn’t enough to lớn lift her off the floor of the bot lane tier list. It will instead act as a catalyst for more ADC mains to play the champion và possibly increase her play rate to lớn a point where the balance team can see how strong she is right now.

Kassadin

Base StatsMovement Speed: 340 -> 335

Kassadin is extremely strong right now with an impressive 52.48% win rate enabled by the fact that he’s surrounded by mages in the current mid lane meta. That being said, he still deserves a push back towards a more balanced state.

Reducing Kass’ Movement tốc độ by 5 may not seem like a significant nerf, but it will impact his early game và his ability to dodge enemy skillshots, resulting in him having a much tougher time in the laning phase, delaying his nguồn spike, and reducing his impact on the game.

Mordekaiser

I’m sick of seeing Mordekaiser, you’re sick of seeing Mordekaiser, we’re all sick of seeing Mordekaiser. Clearly, the balance team feels the same way as they’ve finally decided to lớn nerf the boss in the đứng đầu lane.

Darkness Rise is currently one of the most annoying abilities in League of Legends. It makes it impossible khổng lồ trade with Morde at any point in the game và makes his early game near unstoppable in terms of dueling, gank set-up, và wave clear. Reducing the passive’s duration by 1 second is definitely a step in the right direction, but is it enough lớn fix this broken mess of a champion? Probably not. Keep banning him for now, guys!

*

Nami

E – Tidecaller’s BlessingEmpowers next three basic attacks -> Empowers next three basic attacks và spells.Deals 33-66% damage to non-champions with AoE spells.

Whether a champion with a 51.94% win rate deserves buffs is questionable, but these small QoL changes for Nami and her bot lane partner are unlikely khổng lồ make much of a difference anyway. But there could be some interesting interactions to look out for on Patch 10.1!

Sejuani

Base StatsHealth Growth: 95 -> 100

Passive – Fury of the NorthFrost Armor: 10 (+35% bonus Armor/Magic Resist) -> 10 (+50% Armor/Magic Resist)

It’s been far too long since we last saw the Queen of the Jungle on her throne, and it won’t be too long before we see her back there. Greater health pool as the game goes on, stronger burst damage as a result of the E buff, and basically unkillable with her Passive active.

Yeah, Sejuani is back.

Shyvana

E – Flame BreathMarked Target Damage Ratio: 3.25% max HP -> 3.75% max HPMarked quái thú Damage Cap: 100 -> 150

One would think that with buff respawn timers being reduced in preseason, a farm-oriented jungler lượt thích Shyvana would begin khổng lồ thrive and take over games instantly. That hasn’t been the case. Quite the opposite actually as the Half-Dragon has sunk khổng lồ a poor 47.32% win rate on recent patches & is definitely in line for some helpful buffs for Season 10.

Fury of the Dragonborn has received some QoL changes and Flame Breath now empowers Shyvana to khuyến mãi improved damage in skirmishes throughout the game. This probably isn’t enough to lớn propel Shyvana khổng lồ the higher tiers of the jungle tier list, but will pull her closer to lớn a 1/2 win rate on Patch 10.1.

Sylas

Base StatsBase Health: 585 -> 525Health per Level: 95 -> 115Armor: 32 -> 27Armor per Level: 3 -> 4Magic Resist: 39 -> 32Magic Resist per Level: 1.25 -> 1.75

Passive – Petricite BurstPrimary Target Passive Damage: 1.1 Attack Damage (+0.2 Ability Power) -> 1.1 Attack Damage (+0.25 Ability Power)Radius: 400 -> 300Now grants 60% Attack tốc độ when available.Now stacks up to 3 times.If it would leave a secondary target minion below 25 Health, executes it.

Q – Chain LashCooldown: 9-5 -> 9-6Q1 Damage: 45-145 (+0.6 Ability Power) -> 40-100 (+0.4 Ability Power)Q2 Damage: 45-145 (+0.6 Ability Power) -> 60-240 (+0.8 Ability Power)Q2 Minion Damage: 55% -> 40%No longer slows on Q2.Can no longer be cast during E2.

W – KingslayerNo longer resets Sylas’ auto attack.Damage: 65-205 (+0.65 Ability Power) -> 65-205 (+0.85 Ability Power)Cooldown: 14-12 -> 14-8No longer đơn hàng additional damage to lớn targets below 40% health.Heals for 75% more if Sylas is below 40% health -> Heals more based on Sylas’ health, up khổng lồ 100% increase at 40% healthMana Cost: 40 -> 70-110

E – Abscond/AbductE1 no longer resets Sylas’ auto attack.Shield removed.Cooldown: 14 -> 14-10E2 Damage: 70-130 (+0.2 Ability Power) -> 80-280 (+1.0 Ability Power)Self-CC after moving from E2: 0.2 seconds -> 0.05 seconds.

R – HijackNo longer resets Sylas’ tự động attack.

This is a pretty big mini-rework for Sylas and a lot to lớn break down. Needless to lớn say, we’ll be seeing a lot of Sylas played in the coming weeks as players try out these changes và we’ll soon discover just how strong he is after this small rework.

From first glance, it looks lượt thích Sylas’ kit has been buffed significantly & has a much greater burst in his present state, which is beneficial in terms of improving his current dismal 43.81% win rate. That being said, keep an eye out as we’ll be undoubtedly diving deeper into these changes at some point this week after Patch 10.1 goes live!

Varus

Sniper Varus is back on the menu and ADC Varus will also see improvements on Patch 10.1. Due to lớn the cooldown refund nerf, this basically means that Piercing Arrow’s cooldown is reduced by 1 second at all levels, which is a nice buff for Varus players và should go some way to improving his horrible 46.93% win rate from Patch 9.24.

Vi

R – Assault và BatteryVi remains unstoppable during knockup animation.

Cool QoL change for Vi. Now she can complete the full crowd control onto her intended target without being interrupted, allowing her lớn completely lock down an enemy champion for 1.25 seconds while her team bursts them down.

Zyra

E – Grasping RootsSlow: 30%, no stacking -> 25% stacking up to lớn 2 times, but only once per plant

Zyra’s in a stable state right now in the tư vấn role, sitting comfortably at a 50.85% win rate with a decent play rate on Patch 9.24.

However, it is quite annoying when her E plants auto-attack you a single time & doom you to be hit by skillshots thanks to the 30% slow. Now, a single auto-attack from a Zyra E plant will only slow for 25%, but this can stack if the plant hits you twice. This may not be the most welcome change for Zyra players, but for those playing against her, she just got slightly less obnoxious to deal with.

Runes

Omnistone

Cooldown: 7-3 seconds (11-7 seconds for ranged) -> 5-3 seconds (9-7 seconds for ranged)

Omnistone is the cool, new rune on the block and has a tonne of potential for outplays and winning lane match-ups with RNG. Right now, though, it’s basically just a troll keystone taken whenever a player is having fun or can’t decide on which primary rune lớn take.

Reducing its early cooldown by 2 seconds for all champions is a pretty huge change và could see players start to lớn take the keystone seriously on Patch 10.1 onwards as it offers much more utility than a regular keystone thanks lớn the fast cycling. That being said, it is still very reliant on RNG & high elo players may still be worried about taking a rune that has the potential to be useless the majority of the time.

Shard of True IceNew: 100% Mana RegenerationHealth: 150 -> 100Ability Power: 60 -> 45

For the first time since their introduction lớn League of Legends, the new tư vấn items are seeing some major changes. The balance team has seemingly decided that players simply weren’t interested in the stats provided by certain support items & to replace them with health or mana regeneration.

Ultimately, support players are pretty rigid when it comes to lớn which support item suits which tư vấn champion, so it doesn’t matter what stats are provided with each item. However, adding mana regeneration and health regeneration lớn the support items should help champions through the laning phase without running out of resources và could lead khổng lồ a shift in certain supports choices when it comes lớn items due lớn the new trade-offs.

This is one khổng lồ look out for, but we don’t actually know how these changes will impact the bottom lane until Patch 10.1 hits live servers.
